Dr. Elbert Derrick
Dr. Elbert "Al" Derrick is the owner of Glenwood Falls Animal Hospital.  Dr. Derrick was born in the small Texas town of Laredo, but he has called many places home being the son of a career Air Force Pilot.  He attended the University of Texas then transferred to Eastern Washington University where he graduated with a double major with a degree in Biology and Chemistry in 1982.  Dr. Derrick entered graduate school in Chemistry at Texas A&M University, was accepted into the Veterinary School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science in 1987 and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1989.

After graduating, Dr. Derrick practiced veterinary medicine at hospitals in San Antonio, Houston and the Spring area before establishing Glenwood Falls Animal Hospital in May of 1998.

Dr. Derrick’s professional interests include general practice, surgery and feline medicine.  He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

In his spare time, Dr. Derrick enjoys fishing, old cars and most sports.  He and his wife Sharon have three children, Jaye, Cristine and James. The family has one furry member, Bridget, a spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
